The Rode VideoMic Go is a shotgun microphone that attaches on top of your camera. Built with a lightweight yet sturdy design, the mic runs without any batteries. This makes it perfect for mobile journalism, vlogging or just video on the go.While microphones mostly pick up sound from all directions, the VideoMic Go uses a supercardoid polar pattern to only focus on the sound coming from the front, while muting out any noise from the sides. Thanks to a directional condenser the mic captures more detail than any built in microphones can. You don’t need any batteries to power up your mic, it takes power directly from your camera. So as long as you’re out on the field, the VideoMic Go will be there for you.With a weight of only 2.6 ounces, the mic doesn’t weigh down your camera which means you can shoot handheld for hours. You can easily attach your mic with the camera using the 3.5mm cable that comes in the box. The cable supports dual mono configuration so it sends identical signals to both input channels in the camera. To keep out any extra noise from ruining your audio, the VideoMic Go incorporates a Rycote Lyre suspension shock mount. This reduces any vibrations that may creep up to the mic while filming, and also makes installing the mic super simple. At the base of the shock mount is a camera shoe mount that easily attaches to your camera. To further soundproof the mic from noise, you also get a foam windscreen within the package. The windscreen helps to reduce any noise from fans, air conditioning or strong breeze.
